Tuition and fees rose 3.9 percent for 2018-19 at Colby College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Maine students paid $55,210 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $2,090 more than the $53,120 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 52 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 265 students received grants or scholarships totaling $12.7 million and 85 students took out student loans totaling more than $431,724.

Including all undergraduates (2,000), 941 students used grants or scholarships totaling $40.7 million, and 396 students took out $2.4 million in federal student loans.
