The majority of students in Somerset County schools were white in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Maine Department of Education.

Of the 6,259 students attending school Somerset County schools, 94% were white.

Multiracial students were the second largest ethnic group among Somerset County students (2.7%).

In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in Somerset County, representing 93.9% of the student body.

Skowhegan Area High School and Lawrence High School had the most diverse student populations in Somerset County, which included white, Hispanic or Latino, multiracial, Asian, Black, American Indian or Alaskan Native, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.

In the 2023-24 school year, public school enrollment in the county dropped 2.2% when compared to the previous year.
