Lincoln County ranked fourth in state for resident earnings in 2017

Lincoln County ranked fourth among counties in Maine by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Lincoln County residents was an inflation-adjusted $27,218 per year. Lincoln County had 15,241 households in 2017, with a population of 34,021.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Cumberland County. Cumberland County's median income was $32,098 per year after adjusting for inflation – $4,880 more than Lincoln County. It had 118,807 households in 2017 and a population of 289,173.

Aroostook County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Maine, with a median income of only $21,284 per year. That was $5,934 less than the median income in Lincoln County at the time. Aroostook County had 29,844 households in 2017 and a population of 68,840.
