Colby College Volleyball Returns to Conference Playoffs

Breaking a seven year drought of missing the NESCAC playoffs, narrowly at times, the Colby Volleyball team returns to the conference tournament this week.  The Mules travel to Middletown, Conn. to take on the tourney host in the #1 seed Wesleyan Cardinals Friday evening.

"Our team has worked incredibly hard this year to prepare, elevate our game, and compete with anyone we share the court with," said head coach Lindsay Johnson.  "To return to the NESCAC playoffs is a great step for out athletes and program."  In her second year at the helm of the program, Johnson has guided her Mules to a 14-8 record and has posted back to back double-digit win seasons to begin her tenure.

In the regular season match between Colby and Wesleyan on September 30th, the Cardinals issued the Mules their first conference loss of the season 3-1.  Colby's 14 wins marks the most in a season since they last made the playoffs in 2015 with a 14-12 record.  This season, Colby has beaten perennial power Bowdoin twice, a feat the Mules hadn't performed since 2005.

"While we're excited to bring Colby Volleyball back to the NESCAC playoffs, we're not satisfied to rest on that accomplishment," continued Johnson.  "Our group is looking to fight and raise the bar each time we step on the court, to continue to grow as a team and a program to pave the way for a bigger and better future for CVB."

Friday night's match is set for 5:00pm.  Fans can follow the live stats and webcast of the event from these links, or from the NESCAC Championship Central webpage.

The winner advances to Saturday's semifinal, with the Championship taking place Sunday in Middletown.
