The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office has recently purchased this Can-Am UTV with funds provided by Operation Stone Garden, a program through the U.S. Border Patrol. The tool will be used on details throughout the county. It’s diverse ability to operate in all four seasons here in Maine and will be quite useful.
As you can see, the UTV is equipped with tracks. (It also has tires) Members of my staff have the ability to access bodies of water in Kennebec during the winter months, ensuring everyone has a safe experience. These details worked by deputies are paid through Operation Stone Garden Funds and not out of the Sheriff’s Office budget funded by hard working taxpayers. This year, I used my personal ATV equipped with tracks to monitor the fishing derby held on Cobboseecontee Lake in March. My presence was welcomed and appreciated. I’m happy to report, all I saw was anglers having a great time supporting a very good cause. We at the Sheriff’s Office look forward to seeing you out there.
