Colby Men's Ice Hockey players Andy Beran, a junior goaltender from Bridgewater, Mass. and Jack Sullivan, junior defenseman from Elmhurst, Ill. have made the cut as two of the 33 semi-finalists to receive the 22nd Joe Concannon Award which is presented annually to the best American-born NCAA Division II/III hockey player in New England. The last and only time a Colby ice hockey player won the award was Greg Osborne back in 2007.

The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001 shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for the game of college hockey while always advocating strongly for amateur athletics. Twenty-five institutions are represented in the slate of candidates this year including eight from the NESCAC. Colby joins seven other schools in Babson, Norwich, Plymouth State, St. Anselm, Trinity, Wesleyan, and the University of New England in having two nominees each.

The Jack Kelley Head Coach of Men's Ice Hockey, Blaise MacDonald, stated that this is a "deserving recognition for two key players of our team. Their dedication and commitment to being their best version of themselves and helping our team be our best is admirable. Team first guys willing to do what is required."

The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston will announce the finalists and winner of the 22nd Joe Concannon Award in March, following league playoffs and before the start of NCAA Frozen Four on March 24 & 26.
